Track 23: Mobile Health Applications and Devices
What are the mobile health applications used for?
The most popular use of mHealth is informing customers about preventive healthcare services through mobile devices. Nevertheless, mHealth is also utilized for managing chronic diseases, tracking epidemic outbreaks, supporting treatment, and monitoring disease surveillance.
The use of mobile devices by medical practitioners is changing clinical practice. These days, a plethora of medical software programs may assist with everything from time and information management to clinical decision-making at the point of care.
What is a mobile health device?
More precisely, mobile health, or mHealth, refers to the use of wearable technology, such as smart watches that track wearer health information, and mobile communication devices, such as smartphones, tablets, and personal digital assistants, by patients.
What is medical devices examples?
Simple tongue depressors and bedpans to intricately programmed pacemakers and closed-loop artificial pancreas systems are examples of medical equipment. In vitro diagnostic (IVD) goods, such as reagents, test kits, and blood glucose meters, are also included in the category of medical devices.
HCPs can benefit greatly from mobile devices and applications in numerous ways, but perhaps most notably from having more access to point-of-care tools, which have been demonstrated to enhance clinical decision-making and improve patient outcomes. Some HCPs, meanwhile, are still hesitant to employ them. Even with their many advantages, mobile medical applications still require improved standards and validation procedures to guarantee appropriate usage and integration of these ever-more-advanced instruments into clinical practice. By raising the entrance hurdle into the medical app market, these steps will improve the quality and safety of the apps that HCPs can now utilize.
