Track 2: Healthcare Management
Healthcare Management
Maintaining the operation and community service of healthcare institutions, including hospitals, clinics, and physician offices, is the responsibility of health care managers. They ensure that the facility runs efficiently and offers the greatest treatment available.
The earning potential for careers in health care management is very significant. If you’re passionate about helping people but don’t want to work in a clinical setting, health care management offers a rewarding career path.
Types
There are different types of nurses based on their level of education and role in the healthcare team. These are some examples:
- Nursing Assistant (CNA)
- Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)
- Registered Nurse (RN)
- Nurse Practitioner (NP)
- Nurse Midwife (CNM)
- Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA)
- Nursing Instructor
- Registered nurse may also practice in a specific field with a specialization. There are numerous specializations available, including addiction, cardiovascular, mental health, and oncology nursing. Additional study and a certification exam are usually required to become specialized in a specific field.
Workplace
The majority of nurses work in hospitals, where they provide medical care to patients with illnesses. A nurse’s potential workplaces include residential care homes, in-home care services, governmental services, military, schools, and research facilities.
The physical demands of the job are significant, and nurses are prone to back injuries as a result of having to lift and move objects or patients around. Furthermore, due to exposure to bacteria, viruses, and hazardous drugs or substances in the workplace, nurses are at risk of infection or illness. To reduce this risk, proper sanitization and safety procedures should be followed.
